Preferably choose a lawyer whose practice matches your case (family law, real estate, criminal, business...). Lawyers are registered with the bar associations of the Kingdom's courts of appeal. A first meeting allows the case to be assessed and fees to be agreed.

Fees are unregulated and agreed between lawyer and client, depending on the complexity of the case and the firm's reputation. They may be fixed or time-based. Ask for a written fee agreement at the first meeting to avoid any misunderstanding.

Representation by a lawyer is compulsory before several courts, in particular on appeal and cassation, as well as for many civil and commercial proceedings. For simple disputes, a consultation lets you know your rights before starting proceedings.
