Enrolment is done directly with the school, usually in spring for the September intake. Required documents include the family record book or birth certificate, vaccination record and the previous year's report cards. Private schools may hold an interview or a placement test.

Public school is free and follows the national curriculum. Moroccan private schools charge fees and follow the same curriculum, often with reinforced language teaching. Foreign mission schools (French, Spanish, American...) follow their own national curricula and have specific admission requirements.

The school year runs from September to late June, with mid-term breaks set by the Ministry of National Education's official calendar, plus religious and national public holidays. Exact dates are published each year and may vary slightly.
